Garden Sand™’s Artful Addition to a Bright New Soup
Garden Sand™ brightens the bold, layered flavors of a visually bright original soup.
The other day I made a graphic putting my name on an Andy Warhol-style art rendering of a Campbell’s soup can. The graphic has my name in the section of the can that usually lists the what flavor soup it is.
So when friends asked me what kind of soup a “Kerry”-style soup would be I, on the fly, came up with a cream of corn, red pepper soup, and turmeric soup, with drizzles of basil oil and a balsamic reduction/emulsification of sorts.
Bought the ingredients yesterday (seen below, with artwork).
Three burners, two blenders, and the oven were used to create this hew dish, between blending the corn and red pepper twice — before and after cooking — adding to it some cream-puréed potatoes for body and smoothness, turmeric for aromatic spice and unique color, Garden Sand™ to round out and compliment the savory spice and the natural sweetness of both the corn and red pepper, and topping it off with the fresh basil oil, roasted garlic crema.
A smooth, creamy, deep with flavor soup that tingles the tastebuds and warms the heart is exactly what I was hoping to create, and I feel I succeeded in doing so quite thoroughly.
The drizzles, extra whole kernels of corn, and fresh chopped basil helped make the presentation for artful as well — though more Pollack than Warhol.
Cheeseboro Kitchens Garden Sand™ was the figurative conductor that helped to bring all of these tastes into proper harmony.
(And with the perfect consistency I am curious to make this again in the future and try it out as a chilled soup.)
